This audio file I recorded was done when I had gotten up to get a drink from the kitchen. If you look at the floor plans (click here), I began this experiment in the library area which is directly under the slave quarters. I initially was a bit unnerved, but gathered my senses quickly. At first I couldn’t tell if perhaps there was a burglar, so I called out and received no response. The footsteps came down to about halfway down the steps. This is when I ran to get my digital voice recorder.

I came back and the footsteps were directly above me. It sounded like someone was circling above me. I began to record. I tried to track the steps as they moved about and then placed the recorder into the rafters. Shortly thereafter, the battery was completely drained. I reached my arm up into the slave quarters and took some quick pictures. Nothing. As the steps continued, I began to see dust falling from the vibrations. I took a picture and you can clearly see dust orbs. The entire event lasted about 2 minutes. Below is the audio I recorded.

My husband and i took your tour on may 22 2010.Your tour was very honest and informative. You are very serious about your work .You don’t make up stories.I just got the pictures developed. My grandkids loved listening to what we had to say about the house. After we left I asked my husband if he got the same eerie feeling I did in the basement and he said yes it’s haunted. Thanks again The Young’s from Delaware
